Today for our WCW we are celebrating Joan Lincoln. Her resumé is so impressive, that we don’t know where to start. So, let’s start here, you might have seen Joan at one of the many fashion events here in Rochester or have heard her talking on the radio with WARM 101.3 on her Fashion First segment. Joan is also the proud owner of two businesses, Panache Vintage & Finer Consignment and Panache Home: A Division of Panache Consignment. She was also a contributing writer for the Rochester Woman Online Fashion Forward column and can be found on local panels talking about women empowerment. When Joan isn’t busy building her empire, she is spending time with her three daughters, four grandsons and Kevin.
What is the most challenging part of running your business or job?
“Challenge #1: keeping up with technology, I break out in hives if my internet goes down.” “Challenge #2: Saying “NO” to a community that has been so supportive. I can only do so many fashion shows, give so many donations and discounts.”
As a young girl what did you want to be when you grew up?
“THIS IS IT! All my jobs from the age of 14 to present have been feeding me with experiences and knowledge to take the leap into entrepreneurship. Of course, it took me 50 years to put my BIG girl pants on and jump!”
What fills your cup?
“Family first and then community. Or is it a great cup of java and then another dark brew later in the day. One gets me through the day and the other gives me something to celebrate!”
What job would you be terrible at?
“Assembly or anything repetitive. I went to college to be a court stenographer. Ugh.”
What does your perfect room look like?
“Simple, fresh, with plants and Palm Crest turquoise décor accents.”
What movie title best describes your life?
“My Fair Lady”
What’s the best way to start the day?
“75 and sunny with company or a call.”
What do you wish you knew more about?
“History, geography …I’m awful at JEOPARDY
What takes up too much of your time?
“Balancing the time I DO have … no time for idle.”
What fictional place would you most like to go?
“I lean towards the places in Hallmark type settings BUT always near a body of water.”
What’s your favorite emoji and why?
“Presently using 🤦🏻♀ a lot, SHOCKED at what some people with fancy titles, little knowledge, no moral values or integrity are saying or doing.”
What are three qualities that got you to where you are today?
“Family encouragement and support, work ethic -I really like to get my hands dirty, and respect & appreciation of community.”
Best career advice you’ve gotten?
“Think big-stay small.”
What’s the last thing you binge watched?
“Outlander, Poldark, Hollywood…did I mention had my hip replaced…it was a long winter/spring 2020.”
What should every woman try at least once in her lifetime?
“To be financially independent …total empowerment!”
